On the chirp decomposition of Weierstrass–Mandelbrot functions, and their time–frequency interpretation

چکیده
Weierstrass–Mandelbrot functions are given a time–frequency interpretation which puts emphasis on their possible decomposition on chirps as an alternative to their standard, Fourier-based, representation. Examples of deterministic functions are considered, as well as randomized versions for which the analysis is applied to empirical estimates of statistical quantities. 2003 Elsevier Inc. Determining the order of minimal realization of descriptor systems without use of the Weierstrass canonical form
A common method to determine the order of minimal realization of a continuous linear time invariant descriptor system is to decompose it into slow and fast subsystems using the Weierstrass canonical form. The Weierstrass decomposition should be avoided because it is generally an ill-conditioned problem that requires many complex calculations especially for high-dimensional systems. The present ...
متن کاملChains with Fractal Dispersion Law
Chains with long-range interactions are considered. The interactions are defined such that each nth particle interacts only with chain particles with the numbers n±a(m), where m = 1, 2, 3, ... and a(m) is an integer-valued function. Exponential type functions a(m) = b, where b = 2, 3, .., are discussed. The correspondent pseudodifferential equations of chain oscillations are obtained. Dispersio...

متن کاملSynchrosqueezing-based Transform and its Application in Seismic Data Analysis
Seismic waves are non-stationary due to its propagation through the earth. Time-frequency transforms are suitable tools for analyzing non-stationary seismic signals. Spectral decomposition can reveal the non-stationary characteristics which cannot be easily observed in the time or frequency representation alone. Various types of spectral decomposition methods have been introduced by some resear...
متن کاملInterference Excision in Spread Spectrum Communications Using Adaptive Positive Time-Frequency Analysis
This paper introduces a novel algorithm to excise single and multicomponent chirp-like interferences in direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) communications. The excision algorithm consists of two stages: adaptive signal decomposition stage and directional element detection stage based on the Hough-Radon transform (HRT). Initially, the received spread spectrum signal is decomposed into its tim...
